Chester University Campus and Daresbury Laboratory
There
will be a summer school in synchrotron radiation science at Chester
University and Daresbury Laboratory from
the 29th August to 8th September 2006. The course will
cover theory and experiment, there will be a programme of six days
lectures and three days practical hands on synchrotron use. The school is
aimed at research students and recently appointed PDRAs engaged in relevant
research projects. The programme is wide ranging and dynamic. The
cost per participant for the one and a half week course, including
all accommodation and most meals, is expected to be in the region
of £1200.00.
However, we hope to have a number of student bursaries available
which will cover most of the cost for each eligible participant.
We also hope to obtain EU funding to support non-UK students travelling
from countries attached to the framework 5 programme.
We expect to be able to accommodate approximately 30 students and post-doctoral researchers, so please apply early; expressions of interest already exceed the number of places we have available.
Registration for the summer school has now closed.
In the event that the school is oversubscribed and there is more than one
application from a research group, the supervisor will be asked to provide
a statement, assessing the relative priorities of the applicants. The decision
will be based on criteria of eligibility, relevance, and balance of interests
of participants, and not on a first-come-first-served basis.
