USER SAFETY

Your safety is taken seriously. All our visitors and facility users are asked to co-operate with the necessary administrative processes. We do try to keep these to a minimum.

ALL VISITORS

Upon arrival at the site entrance, go to the reception area and identify yourself to the Duty Officer. The Officer will confirm that you are expected, call the pre-arranged contact person and issue you with a visitor badge. You may be asked to wait in the reception area or go to another location on site to meet your contact.

SRS USERS

SRS user safety involves the training of individuals and the assessment of hazards being brought on site.

To ensure that your research programme runs with maximum efficiency, please use this guidance document covering our requirements for access to DL site and the SRS.
Your station scientist or the User Liaison Office will be pleased to help and advise on any aspect of these procedures. Please note that once you have acquired a new DL site ID card, these procedures can be implemented very rapidly through use of electronic forms and the telephone.

Our current practise is to supplement viewing a general safety video with a personal safety briefing at the experimental station delivered by the station manager.
X-ray hutch search control is via a swipe card that will be issued to you after the safety briefing.
It is our intention to move towards offering the safety training on-line, so that you can complete this and the other registration processes before arriving at the Laboratory.

VISITING CONTRACTORS

You may be asked to view a short video about safety for visiting contractors on your arrival at the Laboratory.
