STATION 7.2
PX DevelopmentNOT AVAILABLE
Description
Protein Crystallography
Functional Description
Station 7.2 is no longer scheduled for users but is used for in-house
hardware and software development projects.
The station provides a high intensity, collimated x-ray beam of 1.488Å.
Technical Description
Station 7.2 accepts 4mrad of the radiation from bending magnet 7. It
comprises a bent, fused quartz, single segment, platinum coated mirror
providing 1:1 vertical focusing. Followed by a 200mm long triangular,
horizontally focusing monochromator. In the standard setting the (111)
reflection from a 10.5° asymmetrically cut Ge crystal is used with a
8:1
compression geometry.
An oscillation camera with, solenoid shutter, dual ion chambers,
collimating slits, adjustable backstop and ccd crystal viewing camera is
used in conjunction with a 345mm or 180mm MAR image plate detector. This
configuration allows data to be collected from a very large resolution
range: between the 1.6 Å and 250Å resolution.
