The GDA Project was initiated to build an extensible data acquisition toolkit which would allow easy plug-and-play construction  of data acquisition software systems for, in the first instance, SR sources. GDA software is now in day-to-day use on several SRS stations and will form the basis of diamond light source data acquisition.
